Location and History

The Design Museum is one of London’s most sought-after venues for events and corporate hires and is already a first choice destination for the ultimate wedding lunch or reception. Originally a Thameside warehouse, the Design Museum was dramatically transformed into an elegant modernist building in 1989 and is located on the River Thames by Tower Bridge.

Interior and Spaces for Hire

Conran and Partners’ conversion of a 1950s warehouse was described by one architecture critic in 1989 as ‘cool and logical, a counterblast to the feverish and feeble sub-vernacular styling which is almost de rigueur in Docklands’. Certainly this is a building, which makes the most of its riverside views to create a space that is simple, dramatic and beautifully detailed. In response to the growing demand for wedding ceremonies and civil partnerships, these ceremonies are now available in the Design Museum Space.

The contemporary setting of the Design Museum Space can accommodate up to 100 guests, with its floor to ceiling glass windows and expansive balcony area offering spectacular views of the City of London and Canary Wharf, it is perfect for any stylish London wedding.
Larger receptions can also be accommodated in the Riverside Hall and the galleries, where up to 500 family and friends can be invited to join in the wedding celebrations later in the evening.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Design Museum is the world’s leading museum devoted to contemporary design in every form and remains an independent registered charity.
