Venue Review
Character: A magical Grade I listed 17th-century country house.
Funky Features: A beautiful rural setting, grand gothic architecture by Sir John Soane, a rare plaster cast collection, a commercially-equipped kitchen, civil wedding and partnership licence.
Location and History
Aynhoe Park is set in the quintessentially English village of Aynho on the Oxfordshire/Northamptonshire border. Just sixty miles from central London and a mere ten-minute drive from the M40, this private home offers a beautiful setting for any event. The rural environs of the Oxfordshire borders create a picturesque setting for the grand Georgian country house of Aynhoe Park. The architecture of Sir John Soane, coupled with a rare and vibrant collection of plaster casts, including Grecian centaurs and Roman arches, make it stand out as different. The addition of iconic furniture and gothic detail make it magical.
This is the first time in over 400 years that the house has been made available for private events. This striking and bold restoration of the house by James Perkins recently won recognition from the Georgian Group, with a commendation in the 2009 architectural awards.
Interior and Spaces
The Aston Orangery is a centre piece room that makes a statement for any occasion, whether wedding, party or photo-shoot. Aynhoe Park has a civil licence which allows weddings and civil partnership ceremonies to take place in the house. It also has a commercially-equipped kitchen that has the capacity to cater for all events in the house.
